I adore spending time with fellow Southerners, sharing our passion for the South, the culture, the cuisine, and, of course, the folks who make it so darn charming. Gabbing over biscuits and sweet tea on a front porch is one my favorite places to be in the entire world. The Southern C is a virtual front porch in which I’m a proud contributor for, and I am inviting a special reader to The Southern C Summit taking place in my hometown of Nashville, TN on October 17th. I’ve also included personal snapshots in this post of my favorite spots in the Nashville area!

2. Our venue is beyond cool! Ruby Nashville is located on the edge of Hillsboro Village, surrounded by Fannie Mae Dees Park (aka Dragon Park) and across the street from the Vanderbilt. The space has been referred to as contemporary, industrial, historic and natural – almost anything other than institutional. It is housed in what used to be a Primitive Baptist Church (constructed 1945).
3. Our host hotel, The Loews Vanderbilt, is the only AAA Four-Diamond hotel in Tennessee for over 28 consecutive years and they just completed its $17 million renovation in July 2013! Swank!
4. Can we say VIP? Take a chartered shuttle (ie. party bus) to Fontanel and get your Goo Goo on as you sip some Whisper Creek Tennessee SippingCream. Third time Summit attendee and Goo Goo Cluster Marketing Director Beth Sachan is cooking up a fun plan with the Whisper Creek folks for a big time on the bus!

Oh man! This sounds a m a z i n g!! What do we love most about Siuthern cooking? It takes us home again. To our roots. What mom and grandma’s house smelled like. Fresh from the garden and if you can’t cook it (or give it to neighbors), you preserve it. My best memory is always breakfast of biscuits and gravy.
It will be incredible! Thank you for sharing your favorite Southern meal!

I love how warm and welcoming each southern culture is. I love that its all the south but each southern culture is so different! Like, Louisiana seems like a whole nother country. They will invite you into their home for a big pot of gumbo and some great conversation. I’m so proud of my Cajun culture!

This looks amazing! I lived in Nashville for 4 years, so it is especially near and dear to my heart. And, I’d have to say that my favorite aspect of Southern culture has to be Southern brunch; no other place I’ve been does the Sunday church & brunch routine quite like the South does.

My favorite aspect of southern culture is my girlfriend. Although is not actually Southern by birth, she is “sentimentally southern” and has adopted the south as her spiritual home. She also attended Vanderbilt for undergrad and loves all things Nashville. She loves to go back and visit when she can and I am entering this contest on her behalf so that she may enjoy a fun weekend in Nashville.

I’ve lived in Mississippi, Illinois, Paris, France and North Carolina, and I can honestly say that I really appreciate the culture of the South. The people here are ready to lend a hand at a moments notice…coming by with food, or just a helping hand. It’s a culture that relies on friends and family and it is where I want to be.

I grew up in S. Fl and moved to the South( Carolina’s) 12 years ago. I am still so amazed by the generosity of the people in the South and their kindness to strangers.

I love the South, where SEC football games are sundress, and shirt and tie affairs, and graduations are strawberry and champagne receptions and seersucker suits. It is the charm of the South that appeals to me!
I remember sitting in front of a Northerner at a Tennessee vs. LSU game, and he just couldn’t get over how everyone was dressed! He said that the girls up North just wore hoodies to the games. Bless his heart!

The south is a state of mind, it’s a lifestyle that you’re lucky if you’re born into and will probably never understand fully if you weren’t. It is holding on to traditions that make America, well, America. It has an unforgettable charm and comfort that will always be “home” no matter where our paths take us. That’s what I love about the South.

This summit looks amazing…and even better that it is in Nashville! yay! Ok having grown up in SC and now living in Nashville to chose one thing is impossible…so give me a sweet tea (vodka?!) at a brunch style tailgate for a SEC game (go cocks!) and that to me is heaven!
